FAQs

Think!Think! differs from many other apps which help you acquire skills and knowledge in subjects such as calculation. Think!Think! is an educational material with a core design that fosters "thinking sense" and "motivation to learn".

"Thinking sense" is a very important ability for effective learning. For example, a child with good "thinking sense" will realise that when learning multiplication and division, they are in fact "dealing with the same thing" but from a different angle. From this, the child will be able to independently grow rapidly. Furthermore, as we live in a generation where anything can be learned online, and rather inexpensively, there is a large difference in academic performance depending on one's level of motivation. Think!Think! fosters "thinking sense" along with "motivation to learn" by tackling high-quality puzzles and three-dimensional and graphic problems, all whilst having fun.

Yes! While using Think!Think!, users are able to take full advantage of being digital and exceed the limitations of paper-based materials. The convenient format ensures that anyone is able to improve their skills.

In order to develop thinking sense, for example, to "assemble a 3D shape mentally in one's head", it is necessary to have that ability as a sense. Think!Think! reproduces the sense that "a person with a good sense of thinking" has, and with movement, this enables anyone to visualize what was once difficult to understand on paper. This is an innovation in educational materials with thanks to the evolution of technology. In addition, by taking advantage of the merits of app based technology, such as the presentation of problems tailored to each person, "real time" feedback that suits the characteristics of young learners, and a system that appears to be a game on first glance, you can expect greater educational effects than paper based materials.

Of course, paper-based materials have their own merits. At WonderLab, we believe that it is important to recognize the advantages of both paper-based and app-based educational materials. Given that, we have also created our "WonderBox" service, a STEAM education home learning material that combines analogue materials with digital learning. Please feel free to check it out.

We recommend talking with your child in a positive manner.

To develop critical thinking skills, your child needs to be able to say "I want to try it!" and "I can do it!". It's of utmost importance for your child to concentrate on the problem with the feeling of "I want to do it!". Forcing children to do things they don't want to do or with little interest in is not beneficial to their learning process and therefore will not bring out their full potentials. Focusing on your child's efforts and praising them by saying "That's amazing!", "You did a great job!", your child's motivation level will rise and will continue to improve. It doesn't have to be everyday. Even if your child only says "That was fun!" or "So annoying!", continue to encourage them in a positive manner.

The strength of our app materials is that children can work on them totally by themselves. There's no requirement for a parent or guardian to explain anything.

Think!Think! is designed so that rules can be understood intuitively, and the problems are tailored to each child's individual level and thus, explanations from parents or guardians are not necessary. Should your child have a hard time with a particular question, you can guide them towards the "hint" button on the screen.
Each time your children solves a puzzle, they can see a real time representation on the screen. For example, how a 3D object is cut to make a cross-section, or how a net is assembled. Even if at first, the concept is difficult to understand, they will gradually be able to visualize abstract ideas and concepts in their head by themself.
If you're a parent or guardian, please encourage your children's efforts by saying "That's great! Keep trying!".

About educational materials

Think!Think! is intended to be used by children aged 4~10 years.

It's most recommended for children between 4-10 year olds, who are more likely to develop a sense of thinking, however it's also suitable for children aged 11 years and above as well as for adults.

There are no grade-specific categories, as the problems available relate to areas that are non grade-specific.

Except for a few topics that require specific knowledge, thinking sense is a skill that can be developed at any age. As each problem is tailored to each individual's level and are from a variety of fields, there is no grade-specific course available. Any child is able to learn at their own pace.

Although Think!Think! does not follow the school curriculum, it develops the foundational skills required for all subjects.

Think!Think! directly develops the ability to use 3D objects and shapes in math. It also develops the ability to "see from different perspectives", "combine things" and to have "a perceptive mind" by imagining invisible information from limited information. It can be said that Think!Think! cultivates the foundational skills for all subjects.

Polishing one's sense of thinking via Think!Think! will be helpful when solving the advanced problems of the junior high school entrace examinations and in accurately understanding what is learned at school in a short time frame.

This is because it's easier to develop your child's ability (thinking sense) at home rather than with paper based materials.

Generally, it's difficult to explain why critical thinking problems (e.g. 3D object and shape problems etc.) are "the way they are", it requires specialized knowledge and experience to be able to teach them. If you try and force children to understand, it's possible that they will start to dislike thinking therefore stunting their potential growth. However, with tablet based educational materials, problems can be chosen precisely based on the child's individual ability. Furthermore, since the 3D objects move on the screen, there is almost no requirement for instruction. Apps are simpler and more effective than paper-based materials for developing a sense of thinking at home.

Think!Think! From Shogakukan (Japanese publisher) the official book of Think!Think! has been released. It's called "The official book for developing a critical thinking sense, Think Think".

In addition to familiar problems that can be found in the app, there are 80 original problems not included in the app. Even if you have experience with Think!Think! the app, you can enjoy this publication with a fresh mind. If you solve all the problems in this book, you will be able to try out one of WonderLab's extremely difficult problems digitally. This is a book that can be enjoyed by the whole family as a brain training tool, not only for children but also for adults, too.

Over 123 types of problems are included totalling over 20,600 problems to try.

All of Think!Think!'s problems are designed and created by WonderLab's dedicated problem creation team. This specialized professional team has also provided problems for the Artithmetic Olympics and the world's largest online mathematics competition "World Arithmetic" sponsored by the Sony Group. All of the problems that are to be used in Think!Think! are first verified in advance in research classes. The difficulty level, methodology, and children's reactions are monitored to be able to make effective improvements. Carefully selected problems will be added according to your child's progress enabling them to continue working with a fresh mindset.
*The number of problems available vary according to the selected course.

Think!Think! is an educational material that develops the foundation of thinking and creativity required by society, please be sure to give it a try even for children who do not take the junior high school exam.

We regard critical thinking sense as the "ability to independently tackle unknown problems and find solutions". Thinking sense is required in all exams, including employment exams and junior high school exams as these skills are required in human relations and in work after one enters society.

How to use

There is a limit of three 3-minute problems per day, for a total of about 10 minutes of use.

Your child will end each day with "I want to do more!” and will be excited to work on it again the next day. Since your child won’t have to spend a prolonged period of time on the screen, you can rest assured that their eyesight will not be affected. You can use Think!Think! in conjunction with school homework or other activities that your child is involved in. If you are too busy to take part everyday, you're able to change the number of play frequency from "3 times a day" to "21 times a week" from the grown-ups menu meaning you can play all at once on the weekend.

We recommend you use Think!Think! for at least one year.

The purpose of this educational material is not only to develop the ability to solve the available problems, but also to develop the habit of thinking in daily life and a willingness to learn. At WonderLab, we believe that it takes more than a year for children to develop the habit of thinking and to establish a good attitude. If your child doesn't want to do something, don't force them to do it, but keep a gentle watch over them, and they will often start again willingly.

After downloading the app, your child can start learning by themself.

There is no requirement for explanations from parents or guardians as the rules are intuitively understood and each problem is tailored to each child's individual level.

It's effective to incorporate the app into daily life, e.g. “do it after schoolwork” or "do it after getting dressed in the morning" etc.

Think!Think! has a range of features that will make your child excited to do more, so you're able to let go and let the child learn independently. However, until using Think!Think! becomes a habit, it's common for children to forget to do it by themselves. To make it a habit as quickly as possible, incorporate Think!Think! into your daily life such as doing it after school homework or after getting ready in the morning. Furthermore, Think!Think! can be used as a reward for your child as it's an enjoyable playful activity. Think!Think! is an easy to use educational material while balancing other lessons and homework, we hope you enjoy using it.
